From time to time, Companies House may reject a filing for an existing company for one reason or another. This could be for a multitude of reasons.
When Companies House reject a submission for an existing company, you will be notified via 2 methods: an Alert and Email. The Alert will include the very basic Companies House Rejection Response, the email sent will include a little more information.
1) Alerts.
What are the Check Alerts on My Portfolio telling me?
The Companies House rejection will trigger an Amber alert triangle on your portfolio screen which will remain there for 30 days.
To see the detail of the rejection, proceed to the company dashboard and your 'Alerts & Notifications' area.
Companies House Rejection Responses will show a CH symbol in the 'Type' Column and include some basic information relating to the type of submission rejected under 'Item'.
From here, you can left click on the alert to see the response provided by Companies House which will appear in a red box.
2) An Email Direct from our Support Team.
In addition to the alert detail shown on your portfolio/company dashboard, our support team will email you over the Companies House Rejection Reason (as shown in the red box above), with a little more information and guidance as to what should be done next. The email will be sent to users which have opted in to receive notice of failed Companies House filings.
Opting in to receive these emails can be managed as a Global email setting & Selected by each user.
Can a group distribution email address be used?
Note: If Companies House reject your submission outside of our normal business operating hours then our Support team will endeavour to be in touch once business operating hours commence.
Note: If your confirmation statement is rejected, this will likely be due to ID verification issues for the Directors. You need to check that the personal codes entered are correct and that their details match the ID used to verify, for example, the date of birth could be incorrect at Companies House.
Credit limit exceeded
If the rejection reason states your credit limit has been exceeded, it means your Companies House account has reached the filing credit allowance.
To resolve this:
- Contact the Companies House finance team directly
- Once resolved, simply resubmit the filing from within Inform Direct.
