Yes — how you do this depends on whether the new owner already has an Inform Direct account.
If the new owner doesn't already have an account, you can transfer ownership yourself:
- Add them as a user: Account tab > Manage users > Add new user (see Overview of User Management).
- Update the account name to theirs: Account > Edit account details (see How Do I Change the Account Name or Invoice Details?).
- Update the payment card to theirs: Account > Update card details (see How Do I Change My Payment Card?).
- Remove the old user: Account > Manage users > pencil icon next to their name > Remove user (see How Do I Remove Users From the Account?).
This is fully self-service — no need to contact support.
If the new owner already has their own Inform Direct account, the individual companies need to be transferred to their portfolio instead. This is a manual, support-assisted process:
- Email support@informdirect.co.uk with a full list of the companies to transfer (company name and number for each), sent by an administrator on the existing account, with an administrator from the receiving account copied in.
- The receiving account's administrator must then confirm by email, in the same thread, that they're happy to receive those companies — support needs written confirmation from both sides before actioning it.
- Note: company records and register history transfer, but documents held in the Document Library don't — these need to be moved separately.
