Also known as: terminated a director by mistake, wrong director resigned, undo a director resignation, cancel a TM01, reverse a director termination, director removed in error, reinstate a director.
If you have submitted a resignation (TM01) for the wrong director, or by accident, you can't cancel it, but you can put the director back on the register.
Can I cancel or undo the TM01?
No. Once a submission has been sent to Companies House it can't be cancelled, either in Inform Direct or at Companies House, and Companies House are very unlikely to reject a TM01. See How to Undo Changes or Correct Filings in Inform Direct.
Your options
- Re-appoint the director. Add them again as a director in Inform Direct. This files a new appointment (AP01) with Companies House. See How Do I Remove a Director? for the resignation side of the Officers tab, and the appointment guides for adding a director.
- Ask Companies House to remove the termination using form RP08. The RP08 is an application to the Registrar to remove material from the public register and is filed on paper. See Second Filing at Companies House.
We can't advise which route is best for your company. If you're unsure, speak to your accountant, solicitor or Companies House.
Common questions
The TM01 is still showing as pending (orange). Can I cancel it?
No. A submission can't be cancelled once it has been sent, so plan on one of the two options above.
Will the director show as having resigned on the public register?
Yes. Until Companies House remove it (RP08) or the director is re-appointed, the termination stays on the register.
