Yes, a director can still resign without having completed their personal identity verification (IDVT). The resignation filing itself does not require the director to have a verified identity.

After resignation, the outstanding verification status for that director is typically removed once the TM01 is accepted by Companies House, as the director is no longer an officer of the company.

Steps to file a director resignation in Inform Direct

1. Open the company in Inform Direct.
2. Navigate to Officers → Click the yellow pencil next to the individual → Select Terminate appointment as director. 
3. Enter the effective date of resignation.
4. Follow the step-by-step wizard until you see the red "submit" button. 
5. Once accepted by Companies House, the director's record will be marked as resigned.

- If the director is also a PSC, update the PSC register separately.
- Seek legal advice if the director's departure involves share buyback, restrictive covenants, or contested circumstances.
