Background
Companies House has introduced new identity verification requirements for certain positions within companies to enhance transparency and security. The main focus of identity verification is on directors and People with Significant Control (PSCs).
Who Must Complete Identity Verification?
- Individual Directors: All individual directors of UK companies must complete identity verification.
- Individual PSCs: Anyone who meets the criteria to be a Person with Significant Control must also complete identity verification.
- Individual LLP Members
Company Secretaries
- Individual Secretaries: Identity verification is not required for individual company secretaries; they do not need a personal code.
- Corporate Secretaries: Similarly, corporate secretarial entities do not need to complete identity verification.
A personal code has been added to a company secretary's record. How do I remove it?
You don't need to remove it, and our technical team doesn't need to either. Secretaries don't have a personal code field in Inform Direct, so a code only shows against someone who currently or previously held a role that needs one, such as a director or PSC. If a code appears on a person who is now a secretary, it was most likely recorded when they were a director or PSC, and it can be ignored. The standard "edit personal code" steps on the Officers and PSCs tabs don't apply to secretaries.
Also known as: personal code on secretary, secretary has a verification code, remove personal code from secretary, secretary ID verification code added in error, secretary personal code field.
