You can add sole traders and entities which are not UK limited companies to your portfolio. This could be for managing the business, its people, and tracking VAT dates.
Recording non-Companies House companies will allow you to view all records in one portfolio screen, helping to manage their details and due dates. The added records will appear alongside your existing companies on the portfolio screen and will be included in your subscription cost.
This method is specifically for adding clients that are not UK limited companies. See How to import a company without sending changes to Companies House, if you need assistance with a registered company.
To add a record which is not a UK limited company, please see the steps below:
1. Click the "Import Company" button at the top of Inform Direct.
2. The first stage of the Setup Wizard allows you to confirm if the record being imported is registered at Companies House.
Selecting No will prevent the Name search from checking an existing Companies House record, so you can enter the required record.
3. The next step allows you to enter the information for the entity.
The only mandatory field on the information page is the Category, all fields above are optional, depending on what you need to record.
4. A contact can then be added, this information is held within Inform Direct for your use.
Forename, surname & title are the only mandatory fields.
5. The setup is then complete. You will have Dashboard, Details & Contacts tabs to view and edit the information.
6. The Details tab allows you to edit their information and add due dates. The dates added here will appear in the Key dates on the Dashboard and can be included in your portfolio.
One of the available data fields is for VAT return due dates. These can be pulled in from HMRC via your agent services account automatically, provided a correct VAT registration number is recorded. Please see How Do I Add My VAT Details?
