This guide explains how to tidy or standardise existing addresses inside Inform Direct (for example, merging duplicate addresses). It does not by itself file changes with Companies House. If you need to change an address that is reported to Companies House, use the relevant change‑of‑address process instead (for example, changing a registered office or an officer’s address).
What is the Benefit of Merging Addresses During Import?
Inform Direct will help you rationalise differing versions of the same address to one consistent version.
For example our office is sometimes called various names. Inform Direct will encourage you to merge the two inconsistent addresses into one correct version.
How Do I Edit Merged Addresses?
How Do I Merge With Another Address?
In the below example Inform Direct has identified an issue with the postcode used for 345 Birch Grove, by merging the records and selecting the correct postcode from the dropdown Inform Direct will ensure any future changes to this address are kept consistent.
Where a significant change has been made Inform Direct will update Companies House to help with the accuracy of your company records. If the change is insignificant, then you will not be asked to make a filing and instead you will see a green 'Proceed to Dashboard' button.
