Whenever a Director or PSC is appointed, their Date of Birth (DoB) must be supplied.If this is incorrect, it cannot be changed within Inform Direct or on any software. Instead, you will need to complete a second filing with Companies House. Please note that whilst the RP04 used to be standard, it is no longer accepted for these corrections and the RP01 form should be used.
The process for correcting an incorrect date of birth depends on whether the individual was appointed at incorporation or added later. Please refer to the detailed guidance below for your specific situation.
If the mistake occurred when forming the company:
If the mistake occurred in relation to an officer's or PSC DoB when forming the company you will need 2 custom forms RP01 and page 7 or 21 of the IN01 form. (hard copies). Using the submission date of this original form. Inform Direct cannot create these forms for you.
If the mistake occurred when appointing the Director or PSC to an existing company:
Directors will need to file forms AP01 and RP01. This can be submitted online using the Companies House Webfiling process.
PSC, you will need to identify the form in which they were notified on. This will either be PSC01/CS01 (CS01's were used to report PSC's when first introduced from 6 April 2016). If the PSC was apointed using a PSC01 it can be amended on WebFiling.
If the PSC was appointed on a CS01 (2016/2017 only), the corrected DOB should be sent on a PSC01 with an RP01. (hard copies). Using the submission date of this original form. Inform Direct cannot create these forms for you.
If the director appointment was made before 1 October 2009
The appointment will have been made using a 288a form. To change this information, you will need to file a corrected version of the 288a form. This should be dated the day on which it was originally filed with the word ‘Amended’ clearly written on the document and sent to Companies House.
If it was a change of information for the director which contained the incorrect date of birth before 1 October 2009, the same process would apply with a 288c form.
The date of birth was also recorded on the annual return until 2016. This was superseded by the confirmation statement, which does not include the director details. If an incorrect date of birth was recorded on the annual return, a corrected version should be filed. If it was submitted since 1 October 2009 it will be on an AR01 form (based on the date, either 01/10/2009-30/09/2011 or 01/10/2011-2016): a corrected version should be sent to Companies House with an RP01 form by post. If it was prior to October 2009 the submission will have been on a 363a form: the corrected details should be sent on this with ‘Amended’ clearly written on the top of the document
PROOF Companies:
If the company is a part of the Protected Online Filing Scheme (PROOF) then a PR03 form will also be required to allow the filing on paper to be processed. For LLP’s it will be a form LL PRO3 that is required. The PR03 & LL PR03 forms are not available online, to access these you will need to contact Companies House.

What do I do once it is corrected at Companies House?
Once you have confirmation the correction has been accepted at Companies House we will automatically sync it within a week, if you need an urgent sync, please notify us and we will complete a manual sync upon request.
How do I identify how a Director or PSC was appointed/notified?
Review the filing history. Directors are appointed on an AP01 form or on incorporation. PSCs are appointed on PSC01 forms or on Incorporation.
Note: Companies formed before 6th April 2016, if no PSC01 can be found, the PSC was notified on the 2016 CS01.
CS01 Rejected Due to Date of Birth Mismatch?
- Confirm the correct date of birth using official ID.
- Submit the proper correction to Companies House (RP01 + IN01 or RP01 + AP01 as appropriate).
- Wait for Companies House update. Inform Direct will sync automatically within about a week, or contact us for an urgent sync.
- Only after Inform Direct reflects the right DOB (from Companies House) should you resubmit your CS01.
- Note: You cannot edit the DOB manually in Inform Direct.
