Inform Direct allows users to manage a variety of share transactions (Such as Conversions SH08 or Share Split SH02). However, there are important restrictions on which transactions can be amended or removed directly by users.
Share Transfers
- Share transfers are the only share transactions that can be removed by a user. Simply click the yellow pencil next to the transaction under "View transactions".
- You can also amend the date and amounts paid for share transfers.
Share Allotments (SH01)
- For share allotments (SH01), users can amend the date and amounts paid.
- However, do consider that a correction to the Companies House filing may be required.
Other Share Transactions (SH02–SH19)
- All other share transactions (including SH02–SH19, such as consolidations, splits, conversions, cancellations, purchases of own shares, etc.) cannot be edited or removed directly by users.
- If you have entered a transaction incorrectly and it has not yet been submitted to Companies House, you may remove and re-import the company to revert to the latest position held by Companies House.
- If the share work has been submitted by Companies House, you can submit a correction via a second filing.
- If you do not wish to remove and reimport the company, for example if you have years of history you do not wish to loose, please contact the support team who can get this amended for you.
What to Do If You Need to Correct a Transaction
-
For share transfers and allotments:
- Amend the date or amounts paid/unpaid directly in Inform Direct.
-
For other share transactions:
- If not submitted to Companies House, remove and re-import the company.
- If submitted or you need help, contact Inform Direct support for assistance.
A Shareholder Was Introduced via a Third-Party Confirmation Statement (CS01) and Is Incorrect
Sometimes a CS01 filed outside Inform Direct (for example by an accountant or company secretary filing directly at Companies House) brings in a shareholder that turns out to be wrongly reported. Because this shareholder comes in as part of the imported shareholder list rather than as a transaction created in Inform Direct, it can't be removed with the yellow pencil in the same way as a share transfer.
- You can amend the date or amount paid for the imported shareholding - see How do I edit the imported shareholdings?
- To have an incorrect shareholder removed from the imported position entirely, if the position hasn't been submitted to Companies House since, you can remove and re-import the company. Otherwise, contact Inform Direct support with the company name, number, and details of the correct shareholder position so we can amend this for you.
Incorrect Shareholder Split on a Filed or Imported Allotment
If an allotment's total number of shares is correct but the split between named shareholders is wrong - and the allotment has already been filed at Companies House or brought in on import - this cannot be self-corrected in Inform Direct. This is a manual correction that our support team completes for you.
To make this a one-touch request, please email Inform Direct support with:
- Company name and number
- The allotment date
- The correct split of shares between the named shareholders
