Included with Inform Direct is the option to produce Share Certificates
Creating Share Certificates
When completing share allotments and transfers the software will ask whether you wish to create a share certificate — so most certificates are generated as part of that process. You don't have to create one at that point though: you can create them at any point, please see How Can I Create a Share Certificate?
The Certificate Appearance
For details of the different share templates available see Share Certificate Template Choices
You can also add the logo of the company How Do I Add a Logo to the Share Certificate?
If your company's name changes, see Updating a company name on share certificates for how this is reflected on certificates going forward.
Editing Share Certificates
If the details of a shareholder have changed the certificate can be amended, see our guide How Do I Edit a Share Certificate?
Certificates for Part-Sold Holdings and Joint Holders
If a shareholder transfers or sells only part of their shareholding, the remaining shares they still hold will usually need their own new certificate — known as a balance share certificate. See When Do I Need to Create a Balance Share Certificate?
Shares can also be held jointly by more than one person, in which case a single certificate is produced covering all the joint holders — see How Do I Create a Joint Shareholder?
Where Certificates Are Stored
Every certificate you create is saved automatically to your Document Library, named with the shareholder's name and certificate number — see Where Are My Share Certificates Stored?
For further details on Share Certificates we have a blog Share certificates – what you need to know
Can I create a share certificate for a new shareholder before filing the SH01?
No. A certificate can only be produced once the shareholder is on the company's current shareholder list, which happens once the allotment (or transfer) has actually been filed and processed. There is no blank or pre-filing certificate template.
Can I use "Add Historic Shareholder" to add them in the meantime?
No. "Add Historic Shareholder" (which is why it asks for a cessation date) is for recording a past shareholder who has already ceased to hold shares — it isn't a way to add a current shareholder ahead of filing.
