Many organisations need somewhere convenient to store Reference Numbers and additional information for the companies they manage. Inform Direct has a great tool for recording these.
Inform Direct has fields to enable you to store additional information:
- PAYE Reference
- VAT Reference
- Corporation Tax Reference
- Bank Details
- Auditor Details
- Miscellaneous
If you require a more specific field then you can create this. See How Do I Add New Custom Fields?
To add any of the above:
1. Click on the Company tab.
2. Click on the blue "Update Company Admin" button.
3. Fill in the required fields and click the green 'Save Changes' button.
Note: Recording and maintaining this information on Inform Direct does not generate any submissions to Companies House. It is for your records only.
Once you have populated this information, if you wish, you can have the detail available on your portfolio screen. See How do I customise the Portfolio Screen?
Where can I find a company's UTR in Inform Direct?
Inform Direct doesn't look up a company's UTR. It only shows a reference that has been entered manually. To check, open the company, click the Company tab and then Update Company Admin, where the Corporation Tax Reference is shown. If it's blank, nothing has been saved yet.
The UTR is issued by HMRC, so you'll find it on HMRC correspondence addressed to the company (see FAQ's Following my New Company Incorporation). Once saved, you can also show it as a column on your Portfolio screen if you wish.
Also known as: where do I find the company UTR, Unique Taxpayer Reference, corporation tax reference, tax number, where is the UTR stored, UTR missing.
