Inform Direct asks for a supporting document during incorporation when your chosen name triggers one of Companies House's name-approval rules. This requirement can't be switched off in Inform Direct — it reflects a Companies House incorporation rule, not a product setting, so it can only be satisfied or avoided by changing the name.
- Similar to an existing company name: you'll need a letter or email from the existing company confirming they have no objection. See Can I Use a Similar Name to an Existing Company when Forming a Company? for the exact wording required.
- Sensitive or restricted words (e.g. "Trust", "Court", certain professional or regulated terms): you'll need approval from the relevant regulatory body, or a supporting letter as specified by Companies House. See Can I Use a 'Sensitive' or 'Restricted' Word when Forming a Company? for the process and where to get approval.
- If you don't have or can't obtain the required document: the only way forward is to choose a different, more distinct company name that doesn't trigger the rule.
