All changes to the PSC register need to be submitted to Companies House. Removing a PSC on Inform Direct submits the filing electronically to Companies House.

How long do I have to file PSC changes?

1. Go to the PSC tab.

2. Click on the pencil opposite the PSC/RLE in question.

3. Select Remove as PSC'.

4. Enter the date that the person or corporate ceased to be a PSC/RLE. Then click 'Continue.'

Note: The Date that the person confirmed the ceasing is not reported to Companies House, this is for the registers in Inform Direct.

5. Before submitting the removal to Companies House there is an opportunity to produce a summary document, this can be used to get approval before making the submission. Selecting Yes will take you through the process to create the approval document.

How do I prepare draft documents to remove a PSC?

Selecting No does not create the summary document and proceeds to step 6 below.

6. Check all the details are correct in the summary screen and then click the red 'Submit to Companies House' button.

Do I need a personal code or ID verification evidence to remove a PSC?

No. Removing/ceasing a PSC does not require a personal code or ID verification evidence — that requirement applies to submitting or verifying an active PSC's identity, not to ending their PSC status. This applies equally if the PSC was recorded in error (for example, mistakenly entered as the executors/estate of a deceased former PSC) and has no code or verification evidence at all.

If a PSC removal is rejected by Companies House, the cause is usually the date entered (step 4 above) rather than anything to do with personal codes — for example, the cessation date conflicting with another date already on the record. Check and correct the date and resubmit. If it's still rejected after checking the date, contact Inform Direct support for help investigating further.
