If you submit a paper form to Companies House instead of filing electronically via Inform Direct, it’s important to ensure your company records stay accurate and aligned. This guide explains which paper filings can be manually reflected in Inform Direct, which require syncing with Companies House, what to do in urgent cases, and what happens when Companies House does not update their electronic records.
Which Paper Filings Can Be Manually Recorded?
You can safely replicate paper filings of share forms SH02 through to SH19 (such as share consolidation, share split, share conversion, cancellation, purchase of own shares, and other share capital changes) directly in Inform Direct:
- Enter the share transaction through the usual share management screens.
- Record the transaction details so your Inform Direct registers match Companies House.
Which Filings Require Syncing With Companies House?
Certain paper filings cannot be manually reflected by users and need sync from Companies House:
- SH01 (Share Allotment)
- Address changes (officers, registered office, PSCs)
- Officer changes (appointment, termination, personal details)
- Other filings that impact key statutory records
Inform Direct will automatically sync your records with Companies House, typically within a week after Companies House updates their data. If needed sooner support can run a manual sync upon request
Important Note: Companies House May Not Update Electronic Records
Occasionally, when a paper filing is submitted to Companies House, their electronic systems are not updated to reflect the change. This means when Inform Direct performs a sync, the data may remain unchanged.
- This is most commonly seen with SH01 (Share Allotment) paper forms.
- If this happens, email support@informdirect.co.uk confirming the data that needs amending.
What to Do if Your Paper Filing Isn’t Reflected
If you submit a paper SH01 (share allotment) or other filing and the change does not appear after a sync:
- Contact Inform Direct Support, providing confirmation of the filing from Companies House.
- Support can manually update your share totals or relevant records to ensure accuracy.
